The Focus Team visit Fen Street

In response to concerns raised by residents on social media, the Broughton and Moulsoe Focus Team recently visited the end of Fen Street to assess the situation firsthand and understand the potential impact that the opening of the road is likely to have on local residents.

During the visit, the team concluded that residents living at this end of Fen Street have been treated unfairly throughout the process. Significant effort was required to secure changes, including the relocation of lorries further up the road, and the team remains concerned that further issues may arise once construction work resumes. Work on the road is expected to restart before the end of the year.

The Focus Team believes two immediate actions are required:

• GLP should ensure the area is cleaned regularly, particularly after HGVs and other vehicles leave rubbish behind.
• Thames Valley Police should install cameras along this stretch of road to discourage HGV drivers from using Fen Street as a shortcut to and from Junction 14.

The team will be writing to both GLP and Thames Valley Police to request these measures and press for action. However, they recognise that the strongest results are achieved when residents work together and present a united voice.

As a result, the Broughton and Moulsoe Focus Team will shortly be launching a petition calling on residents to support these requests. The team has already witnessed the impact that a united community can have through the strong response from residents to the Hallam Land proposals.

Residents are encouraged to support the campaign by signing and sharing the petition once it is published. Together, the community can ensure that local voices are heard and that meaningful action is taken to address the concerns affecting Fen Street.
