Liberal Democrats are ambitious for Milton Keynes!
We interviewed Cllr Jane Carr, leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on Milton Keynes City Council to find out how they intend to do this.
Jane explained:
“We see the need for homes for our families, jobs for people, support for our carers and security for our pensioners. To do this we need a strong financial commitment from the government not higher council tax paid by residents. For years central government has cut the investment into local councils, meaning services are at risk. Lots of local councils struggle to meet expenses and are forced to cut key services."
Here in Milton Keynes, we have worked hard to attract inward investment, but the time is coming when some hard decisions must be made."
"We need to ensure jobs for people, but we also need a decent bus service to help people get to work. Thankfully the change in legislation will soon allow us to do that. Good public transport is a must."
The Liberal Democrats have called for infrastructure before development for over 20 years and will continue to push developers to commit to that.
Jane added:
“We want to build up local communities to take pride in their area. Encouraging people to help with projects as simple as litter picking or local volunteering helps us all. We all have a role to play, that's why we are asking residents to support us."
