Lib Dems Mourn Cllr Shanika Mahendran

Leader of Milton Keynes Liberal Democrat Group, Councillor Jane Carr, said:

“The Milton Keynes Liberal Democrat Group is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Councillor Shanika Mahendran.

“On behalf of our Group, I would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, loved ones and colleagues in the Labour Group at this incredibly difficult time.

“Shanika dedicated herself to serving the people of Milton Keynes and worked tirelessly to make a positive difference for her residents. Her commitment to public service, her passion for the city and the contribution she made deserve our recognition and deepest respect.

“Our thoughts are with everyone who knew and worked alongside her. We hope they can take some comfort in the lasting impact Shanika made on the city and the many lives she touched. She will be greatly missed.”

 Deputy Leader, Councillor Kerrie Bradburn, said:

“Shanika was an exceptional young woman who achieved so much in a short space of time.

“Born and bred in Milton Keynes, she was truly a child of the city and was passionate about making it an even better place for local people.

“She was an outstanding councillor, an impressive cabinet member and dedicated to public service who cared deeply about the communities she represented. She had a very bright future ahead of her and was undoubtedly one of Milton Keynes’ rising stars. She will be dearly missed.”
