James Cox Fighting for a Fair Deal for Milton Keynes Central

On 4th July vote for James Cox and the Liberal Democrats in the new Milton Keynes Central constituency

Milton Keynesian and school teacher James Cox has been selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate to fight the new Milton Keynes Central Constituency

James was born and raised in Milton Keynes and is a school teacher who is fighting for a fair deal for his home city.

This election is a chance to change. We will be voting in a new seat built on new boundaries where only Labour or the Liberal Democrats can win.

People in MK know that they can trust their local Lib Dems to deliver for them. That’s why, at the local elections in May, the Lib Dems won in more wards than any other party in Milton Keynes Central, and the Conservatives have been pushed to third place.

The Conservative government, during a cost of living crisis, have raised taxes to record levels and put hundreds of pounds on your mortgages and rent. We cannot trust Rishi Sunak and his candidate in MK Central with our economy.

Every vote for James is a vote for a local champion - an MP for MK who will fight for you, your family and our community to get the fair deal that Milton Keynes deserves.

Fighting for a Fair Deal for the NHS

People across Milton Keynes are struggling to get a GP appointment when they need one. The Conservatives have neglected local health services and plunged them into a crisis which has led to millions waiting longer than the Government’s own target of 2 weeks.

That’s not good enough, and people are suffering as a result. You should be able to see your GP when you need to.

The lack of access to GPs means more people going into A&E or needing an ambulance. By guaranteeing a GP appointment when people need it, we will reduce the pressure on hospitals and paramedics, saving crucial time and money elsewhere in the NHS.

Fighting for our Environment and Cleaner Seas and Rivers

Everyone should be able to enjoy the benefits of our wonderful natural environment, and our children should inherit the future they deserve.

Last year, raw sewage was dumped into rivers in Milton Keynes for over 2,000 hours. Liberal Democrats put forward a bill to stop this, but our Conservative MP voted against it.

James and the Liberal Democrats have a plan to tackle the scandal of sewage polluted rivers in MK, and making water companies work for people by:

  • Transforming water companies into public benefit companies.
  • Banning bonuses for water bosses until discharges and leaks end
  • Replacing Ofwat with a tough new regulator with new powers to prevent sewage dumps.

Helping People Struggling Through the Cost of Living Crisis

Under this Conservative Government, households experienced the biggest fall in living standards on record. Living standards will be worse at the end of this parliament than they were at the start.

Not only has the Conservative party failed to properly support people with the cost of living; their mismanagement of our economy has made the cost-of-living crisis even worse.

Your local Liberal Democrats have taken action and provided support across the city, with a £3.3 million Cost of Living plan which opened up new warm spaces in our communities, helped local food banks, and helped to feed children on Free School Meals outside of term time. James is proud of our local record and will fight to cut your energy bills and support renters in MK Central.
